I am really annoyed by the fact that the UFC has taken advantage of great fighters like Mr. Ortiz and others. I studied MMA before this became a popular sport, and these guys commit. It costs to do what they do, just like the other sports. Oh yeah, lets not forget the risks that they take to entertain. C'mon UFC share in the bounty of a good thing. - jdizzle

I do agree that big purses make big fights but until you see people in a sports bar talking about Rampage like they do the Detroit Pistons MMA leagues (UFC - ProElite) will need to dump loads of cash in order to spread the word on MMA and creating a brand. Now to Tito's argument the fighters do deserve money the total base fighter payroll for UFC 81 was $892,000 which I think is total screwing the fighters. The should at least bump that up to 2mill which is chump change to them. Thats my 2 scents. Peace - Ozion

What sold pay per view in the 70's and made it what it is today is that the purse was always mentioned - 20 mil fight - 40 mil fight it drove the consumer - the fans - to want to wacth - wich drove revenue even higher - I have always wondered why in MMA or UFC pay per view it was never mentioned - now I know - from a business stand point and to take MMA to the next level - the fighters should be paid in the same manner of the great boxers from the days gone by. It is a win win for everyone envolved the fighters - mma and the ufc - its simple it grows market - grows fan base and grows revenue - if the ufc cannot see this they need to hire me.....
